The Oyster Point Gallery will host an exhibition of the works of Amy Faris. Faris uses drawing to explore and project sensory memories from her childhood. Intense experimentation with a variety of materials is the foundation of her practice. Through materiality, she creates visual metaphors for experiences of the body – violence, humor, awkwardness, pain. In this series, one object is manipulated to evoke different moods and situations. In an additive and subtractive process the object is torn, repeated, veiled, and painted over and around. The exhibition runs concurrently with Val Dyshlov: Paintings and Etchings. Both will be celebrated with a cocktail party at 6 p.m. on November 3, 2023.
