Gallery Jupiter kicks off its exhibition season with a new show featuring works by artists Deb Jellenik and Beth Sillen. Both artists create works on or of paper to produce diverse representations of the natural world. The opening is scheduled for Friday, September 12, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. This event is open to the public. The exhibition runs through October 7.
Ms. Jellenik starts her process by collecting images of flowers, shells, leaves, branches, and other natural elements. She then digitally edits them to achieve a more graphic appearance. “I am fascinated by how the process of combining materials with my photos adds depth, creates tension, and changes the feel of the work,” says Ms. Jellenik.
Ms. Sillen’s work features landscape-inspired torn paper arrangements. It explores themes of abstraction, space, light, color, texture, and improvisation. “I have always sought wonders in everyday life and nature; remaining open, accepting, and recognizing potential in objects (and people) that others might overlook,” says Ms. Sillen.
