Author and historian, W. Barry Thomson, will present a series of illustrated talks about Wildfair, the site of the 21st Mansion in May Designer Showhouse and Gardens Presented by the Women’s Association for Morristown Medical Center.
The Wildfair estate in Chester Township, New Jersey, has a captivating history going back more than 220 years. Originally the site of an eighteenth- or early nineteenth-century gristmill, sawmill and farm sited along the upper reaches of the Peapack Brook, the original fieldstone house on the property was altered and enlarged in the 1930s to create an elegant country estate. The house was again altered and enlarged to its present size in the mid-1990s.
Mr. Thomson’s illustrated talk will cover the history and design of the Wildfair estate and the families that have called it home.
