Cover Your Table in Summertime Blues
Writer Meg Fox | Designer Kim SeybertA sunny take on the summertime blues
The design team at Kim Seybert, a maker of fine tabletop decor and luxury home accessories, always brings a fresh perspective to the table with a focus on bright hues, unusual textures, and engaging patterns.
For this alfresco fete, the goal was to stray away from the more traditional blue and white summertime combo by introducing jolts of yellow and other pops of color.
The jumping-off point was the vibrant jewelry-like runner made of dyed glass beads and other detailed embellishments. Coordinating placemats in a faux snakeskin pattern bring additional color and texture to the setting. Depending on the mood you wish to create, the easy-to-wipe-clean reversible placemats can show their lemon-yellow side or sassy seaside blue.
Made of durable and scratch-resistant melamine, the bamboo-edged white and blue chinoiserie-patterned plates are perfectly suited for outdoor (or indoor) use coupled with shatterproof acrylic glassware in a coordinating hue. Dip-dyed blue linen napkins and whimsical raffia pompom napkin rings with shell accents conjure up an authentic summer feel, while clear bud vases filled with cheery yellow and white flowers tie everything together.
