Red Carpet Charisma
The Academy Awards ceremony Sunday night featured so many memorable moments—Frances McDormand’s rousing speech, redemption for Faye Dunaway and Warren Beatty, a jet ski!!
But let’s talk about style. By turns glamorous, cutting-edge, sophisticated and eccentric, the fashions were predictably eclectic; that’s a lot like interior design. Here at Design NJ, we witness firsthand the intersection of runway fashion and home fashion. Each inspires the other, creating a confluence of style that provides a snapshot of a moment in time. (Anyone remember the year of Bjork and that swan dress? That was certainly a moment.) Here are just a few of the outfits that captured our attention—along with their home design counterparts.
Greta knows that bright yellow brings a cheery vibe to every occasion. For more fun, add appliqués.
Margot’s all-white look is ultra feminine, with ornate trim used sparingly, for an understated elegance that works beautifully at a soirée.
Jennifer looks fantastic in this cobalt dress, which really heated things up in a sea of neutrals.
I’m sensing a pattern here……
Your room (and Nicole) can’t go wrong decked out in classic deep blue.
I just need to pause here, because, well, these ladies. (#agedefying) They prove, beautifully, that angles and curves in classic neutrals have a timeless simplicity that never goes out of style.
A swathe of red makes a great backdrop for a fantastic night.
Long lines in gold with a hint of black trim create show-stopping style.
Sparkle and fringe make a memorable presentation.
